Boxing, kick-boxing, and cycling are sports we take seriously here at Saturdays. Jumping in the ring to spar with friends or just hitting the heavy bag is a great way to shake off the day’s stress. When we visit Japan, we make it a point to get a workout in at Hayato Gym in Meguro. It’s become the go-to training ground for several of our Daikanyama staff members and is one of the most renowned boxing gyms in Tokyo.
With the five-year anniversary of the opening of our Tokyo shop among us, we felt it was only right to celebrate with one of our favorite Tokyo hangouts, and we’ve partnered with both Hayato Gym and Everlast on a capsule collection that expresses our shared love for boxing. The 15-piece collection reflects various time periods in boxing history and pays homage to Everlast’s dynamic role in the sport. Hooded sweatshirts and sweat shorts feature unfinished hems as a nod to legendary fighters like Mohammad Ali and Mike Tyson, who were known for modifying their own garments. Nylon pullovers, boxing shorts and workout pants designed with an acid wash borrows fashion from the 1980s when the Venice Beach Boardwalk was a popular workout destination for up-and-coming fighters. The collection also includes a cycling jacket that references the innate relationship between boxing and cycling. The Saturdays NYC x Everlast x Hayato Gym capsule collection is available exclusively in our Japan retail stores.■
